Software Test Engineer

Job Description:

Responsibilities

• Own test planning and execution across web UI, APIs, and data pipelines; define clear entry/exit criteria and risk-based prioritization.
• Author and maintain manual and automated test cases (regression, smoke, sanity, compatibility).
• Build reliable automation for API/UI/e2e flows (e.g., Postman/Newman, PyTest/Requests, Selenium).
• Test data-intensive features: algorithm (ML-based and physics-based), validate ETL/ELT jobs, time-series accuracy, idempotency, and data quality (DQ) checks.
• Perform production-aware testing: canary/blue-green validation, feature-flag rollouts, log-based verification, and SLO-driven checks.
• Conduct non-functional testing (performance with k6/JMeter; reliability; basic security checks) and coordinate with DevOps on environment parity.
• Create/maintain test documentation: test plans, traceability matrices, runbooks, RCA reports, and release sign-offs.
• Drive defect lifecycle end-to-end: triage, prioritization, clear reproduction steps, and verification of fixes.
• Track and report quality metrics (coverage, MTTR for bugs, escaped defects) to improve release discipline

Qualification & Experience

• 2+ years of proven testing experience in production or production-like environments for web/SaaS platforms.
• Strong fundamentals of software testing: test design techniques, boundary/edge cases, and risk-based testing.
• Hands-on with API testing (Postman or PyTest/Requests) and UI/e2e tools (Selenium).
• Comfortable writing testing utilities/scripts in Java/JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.
• SQL and MongoDB proficiency for data validation; familiarity with logs/metrics/traces (e.g., CloudWatch/Grafana/ELK).
• Excellent command and proven experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Jenkins), Git workflows, and defect/test management tools (Jira/TestRail or equivalents).
• Strong aptitude to test and validate Algorithms and their logic control.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills; bias for clarity and prevention.
• Performance testing (k6/JMeter), contract testing (Pact), and basic security testing (OWASP Top 10 awareness).
• Exposure to microservices, message queues, and event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge/exposure of AI testing and benchmarking techniques and willingness to learn test AI modules and LLM-based agents.
• Domain knowledge in energy/IoT, hardware-in-loop testing, or time-series data validation.
