Principal Systems Engineer – Networking / Security

Job Description:

Responsibilities

• Acts as a senior technical expert in the design, development, and enhancement of systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
• Owns and drives complex technical initiatives end?to?end, including architecture design, implementation, validation, and optimization.
• Provides technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across teams through design reviews, code reviews, and best-practice guidance.
• Collaborates with program managers, product management, hardware, platform, and architecture teams to align technical solutions with product and roadmap requirements.
• Drives technical direction to ensure products meet scalability, high availability, reliability, and performance benchmarks across large-scale, distributed environments.
• Leads performance engineering efforts, including system benchmarking, profiling, load testing, tuning, and optimization to meet stringent latency and throughput goals.
• Establishes and promotes best practices for performance regression analysis, capacity planning, and continuous system monitoring across multiple releases.
• Identifies and resolves complex system bottlenecks across networking, security, and data path components.
• Proactively identifies opportunities for system improvement, automation, and technical efficiency.
• Contributes hands-on to testing, automation, and tooling as needed.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Typically 10 or more years of relevant industry experience in system/software engineering roles.
