International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

IELTS or International English Language Testing System is a standardised English proficiency examination taken by non-native speakers going to English-speaking countries to study, work or live. It is recognized and accepted by more than 9,000 organizations all around the world, including educational institutions, employers, governments and professional bodies. There are two types of IELTS examinations that serve different purposes: Academic and General.   Types of IELTS Exam The IELTS exam is available in two formats: IELTS Academic for candidates who are looking to study abroad in an English-speaking country and IELTS General for candidates who are looking to travel to English-speaking countries for immigration purposes. IDP IELTS – the conducting body of the IELTS exam offers the IELTS in two formats: IELTS on computer and IELTS on Paper. Candidates opting for the ‘IELTS on a computer’ will be required to use a computer to appear for the Reading, Listening and Writing sections of the IELTS exam. The face-to-face IELTS Speaking section would be required to be completed on the same day either just before or after the Reading, Listening and Writing tests. The computer-delivered IELTS test is available up to 3 times a day on all 7 days a week.  Candidates opting for the ‘IELTS on paper’ will be required to complete the Reading, Listening and Writing sections of the IELTS on paper in one seating with no breaks. The face-to-face speaking test would have to be completed with an IELTS examiner one week before or after your IELTS on the paper test date. One of the major differences between the two formats of the exam is the announcement of IELTS results. While the IELTS results for the computer-delivered test are made available in 3-5 working days. Candidates opting for the IELTS paper-delivered test would be required to wait for 13 calendar days for their IELTS results.    How to Register for the IELTS exam Candidates who are looking to book their required test centre and IELTS Dates are required to follow the IELTS registration steps mentioned below: Visit the official IDP IELTS website and Register for the exam Click on ‘Find IELTS Test Date’ and enter the month city and module of choice You will be then redirected to the IELTS Application: Check Test Availability page Candidates are required to select the desired IELTS date and click ‘Apply’ Candidates would be then required to pay the IELTS exam fee of INR 16,250 Candidates would receive an acknowledgement slip of their booking along with details of the IELTS exam.   For more information click here.

The GRE or Graduate Record Exam is taken by students who want to apply to graduate school in countries like the USA, the UK, Australia, etc. It is accepted by thousands of universities around the world. This exam is used as a measure of a student’s basic abilities in math, reading and essay writing. Generally, a 75th percentile is considered a pretty good GRE score. As for the near best, a 90th percentile is an excellent one. The test can be taken once every 21 days, that too, up to 5 times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). It might seem too good to be true but, this applies even if your scores were cancelled on a test taken previously.   GRE Exam Dates 2023: Students can book their GRE test dates once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). Now that GRE test centres are functioning at their normal capacity keeping student safety in mind. Candidates can go ahead and book their GRE exam dates 2023 at a test centre near them or take the GRE exam from the comfort of their home by opting for the GRE at Home test. The GRE at Home is available around the clock, 7 days a week, with appointments available as early as 24 hours after you register. However, candidates would need to meet the system and environment requirements to go ahead with booking their GRE exam dates. The GRE Subject Test dates are available three times a year and candidates can book their GRE Subject Test dates as often as they are available.    When should you take the GRE test? A lot of times, candidates are confused about the right time to take the GRE test. Experts suggest that the right time to book your first GRE test date should be 60-70 days prior to your first university admission deadline. GRE scores are available 10 to 15 days from the day of the exam. This way, candidates would have enough time to book a second GRE test date if the GRE results don't yield as planned. The GRE scores are valid for five years from the day of the exam.    GRE Exam Fees The GRE test fee for students registering from India is US $228. Candidates should note that the GRE application fee, GRE form fees, and GRE General Test fees all refer to the GRE registration fee which is US $228. The GRE exam fee in India in rupees is approximately INR ?18,863.31 INR. (USD 1 = 82.73INR). Candidates opting for the GRE Subject test are required to pay a GRE Subject Fee of US $150. TOEFL refers to the Test of English as a Foreign Language.It is a valid and reliable test with unbiased, objective scoring. Hence, the TOEFL test confirms that a student has the English language skills that are needed to achieve academic success. TOEFL score is accepted by more than 8,500 colleges, universities, and agencies in 130 countries. It is administered at more than 4,500 test centres in 180 countries. One’s TOEFL scores are valid until two years after the declaration of one’s result. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The TOEFL exam is administered using the computer-based TOEFL iBT format. The alternative paper-delivered method can only be used in locations lacking an internet connection. The TOEFL exam syllabus, which gauges each of the four communication skills - reading, listening, speaking, and writing—is preferred by educational institutions. The TOEFL exam is approved for employment and immigration purposes as well as for entrance to more than 11,000 colleges and institutions in 150 different countries. The computer-based TOEFL test is administered more than 60 times annually and can be taken at designated testing centers. The availability of TOEFL test dates and testing sites can be checked by candidates before registering for the TOEFL exam 2023.    TOEFL 2024 Latest updates Candidates who have already registered for the upcoming TOEFL iIBT (Internet Based Test) will have the option to reschedule their TOEFL test date free of cost. The free rescheduling of the TOEFL exam will be entertained upto April 30, 2023 through the TOEFL account. The ETS has also announced the following changes: Registration process for the TOEFL exam will be simplified from July 2023 onwards. Test takers will be able to register themselves on the website and apply for the TOEFL easily now. The duration of the TOEFL test will be reduced from three hours to less than two hours. In addition to this, streamlined instructions and navigation will assist the candidates throughout the test. TOEFL reading section has been cut short for the candidates. All unscored test questions will be removed. More transparency will be exercised in revealing the TOEFL scores from July 26, 2023, onwards. Local payment options will be introduced to facilitate the convenience of the candidates in payment of TOEFL exam fee. SAT stands for ‘Scholastic Assessment Test’ . SAT is globally recognized as a college admission test.  It is a standardized entrance test used by most colleges and universities in the US to make admission decisions. The SAT is a multiple-choice, paper-pencil test created and administered by the CollegeBoard - one of the largest education companies in the world. It predominantly evaluates the written, verbal and mathematical skills of candidates. SAT is necessary for applicants to undergraduate courses, particularly in the US and Canada. Quite a number of universities in the UK consider SAT scores. To be able to compare all applicants based on a common data point is the main purpose of the SAT.   Latest from the SAT This information is important for you if you are just starting to know the SAT and your first attempt could be at the end of 2022 or at the start of 2023. The College Board recently announced that the SAT will go Digital starting March 2023. The new digital SAT will be shorter than the current SAT. As the name suggests, the Digital SAT will be done online and not on paper. However, it is strongly recommended not to take more than three attempts.   SAT Exam Registration If you plan to take the SAT, you must register for a slot at one of the test centres. You have to go to www.collegeboard.org to register for the test. You have to create an account on the website and provide the information such as your name, name of the school, city, country and much more required to take the test.
